Checking is where avoidable errors are caught. We provide design checking support and Category check input that confirms a scheme does what it claims, with reference to BS 5975:2024 and the agreed check category.

Check categories
CAT 0–3 design checks, explained
BS 5975:2024 grades design checks by complexity and risk. The category is set by the project's designated individual / temporary works procedure — we help you resource it.
Cat 0 & Cat 1
Restricted to standard solutions (Cat 0) and simple designs (Cat 1). Checked by another competent person — often within the same organisation. We provide fast, documented Cat 1 check support with a clear check statement for the register.
CAT 2 temporary works check
More complex or non-standard designs — checked by an individual not involved in the original design. We coordinate and deliver Cat 2 checks: independent review of loads, load paths, stability and details, with a query log and check certificate input for the register.
CAT 3 temporary works check
Complex, innovative or high-consequence designs — an independent check by a separate organisation, working from first principles with independent calculations. We scope, commission and manage Cat 3 checks with established checking engineers, and close out the certificate trail.
