- A standard design is a template for the stated typical use only — it is not a project-specific design.
- It must be reviewed and adopted by a competent person (TWC/TWS) against your actual ground, loads, geometry, duration and site constraints, with reference to BS 5975:2024.
- If any "bespoke trigger" for your chosen solution applies, a standard design is not suitable — you need a bespoke design.
- Standard designs do not transfer statutory duties or replace the project temporary works procedure, competent checking, or site verification.
